Wetting Agent FireFive® systems

Solutions with a patented, UL-certified wetting agent that maximizes the extinguishing and cooling power of water, inhibiting the chemical reaction that causes fire to spread.

FireFive® is an innovative wetting agent that has revolutionized the traditional approach to fire protection, developed and produced by our partner company Zelig Hi-Tech.

FireFive® is not only a wetting agent that maximizes the extinguishing and cooling power of water but is also a micelle encapsulator capable of isolating hydrocarbon molecules.

Tests carried out in collaboration with firefighters have shown that FireFive®, added to water with the lowest mixing ratio on the market, inhibits the chemical reaction that is at the basis of the spread of fire, quickly extinguishing class A, B, D and F fires. Furthermore, FireFive® is able to put out even three-dimensional fires that foam is notoriously unable to extinguish.

FireFive® is non-toxic, non-corrosive, biodegradable and is effective even in the most extreme weather conditions (up to -28°C).

Its effectiveness is proven and UL certified, according to the NFPA 18 regulation.

Compliant with the European REACH regulation for the classification of chemical agents, FireFive® can be used both with mixers and in premixed solution and does not require special equipment. It is also RINA certified.

How it works

FireFive®, suppresses fires in a very short time by performing a quadruple action: it enhances the effect of water, removes heat from the fire, encapsulates and neutralizes hydrocarbon molecules, interrupts the chain reaction of free radicals.

The surface tension of water is reduced by about three times when mixed with FireFive®: the individual drops of water are broken up into smaller units, losing their characteristic spherical shape. This phenomenon leads to an increase in wettability, which allows the extinguishing agent to penetrate deeper and faster into the fire. By removing heat from the fire, FireFive® drastically lowers the temperature of both the treated area and the surrounding areas, thus inhibiting backfires, radiation and spontaneous re-ignition. Furthermore, it inhibits the chain reaction of free radicals, highly reactive particles that fuel the propagation of combustion and the production of black smoke. By encapsulating toxic fumes and vapours, it increases visibility during operations, making the environment safer for rescue teams.

One of the most amazing properties of FireFive® is that it encapsulates hydrocarbon molecules, both in the liquid and gaseous state, even in three-dimensional fires. By enclosing fuel molecules within chemical envelopes called micelles, it isolates and neutralises them, which turn to be non-flammable.
