Semi-passive, intelligent and self-configuring fire barriers
The project
Tema Sistemi S.p.A. has developed an innovative industrial research project aimed at creating advanced fire protection systems for tunnels and strategic infrastructure, in collaboration with the University of Salento, the University of Ferrara and the Futuro in Ricerca Consortium.

The aim of the project was to integrate passive and active protection technologies into a single intelligent solution, capable of limiting the effects of a fire and increasing the safety level of infrastructure through innovative materials, cooling systems and advanced simulation models.

The research activities led to the development of high-performance refractory panels, hybrid active and passive protection systems, experimental prototypes and thermal simulation tools, validated through laboratory tests and trials in accordance with the main European guidelines for the sector.

Carried out as part of the Integrated Support Programme (PIA for Medium-Sized Enterprises) and co-funded by the Puglia ERDF Operational Programme 2014–2020, the project is a prime example of Tema Sistemi’s commitment to developing innovative fire prevention technologies, with the aim of making infrastructure increasingly safe, resilient and sustainable.
