Gas Systems
Inert Gas IG55 – IG01 – IG100 – IG541 fire-suppression systems
The IG55 – IG01 – IG100 – IG541 inert gas suppression systems use a mixture of natural gases with zero environmental impact, suitable for extinguishing fires of all fire classes.
Nargotech®: the mixture of natural gases to extinguish any type of fire
Our fire-suppression system with inert gas, half argon and half nitrogen
Over the years, our assiduous research and experimentation has led us to seek innovative and high-performance products starting from elements present in nature. Driven by the great success of the innovative Aquatech® water nebulized technology, we decided to investigate a new alternative fire-fighting solution among gases.
From this research was born what has now become one of the company's flagship products: Nargotech®, an extinguishing system that uses a mixture of inert gases composed of 50% Argon and 50% Nitrogen. This mixture is pressurized at 200 or 300 bar and has a density approximately equal to that of air.
Nargotech® is odourless, colourless, non-corrosive, and non-electrically conductive. Furthermore, thanks to the innovative silenced nozzle, the Nargotech® system eliminates the risk associated with high noise during gas discharge.
Nargotech® can be used to extinguish fires of all fire classes.
Correct design of the Nargotech® system requires appropriate preliminary studies and risk analyses, aimed at determining the type of fuel, its design concentration and the quantity of mixture to be used.
The extinguishing concentration is the minimum extinguishing concentration of a given material based on fire tests; it is crucial to establish the design concentration.
The design of the Nargotech® system is carried out using a VdS hydraulic calculation software that provides the following results:
- Calculation of the extinguishing concentration value
- Sizing of the product quantity
- Sizing of the fire-fighting network, of the calibrated diaphragms of the nozzles and of the pressure reducer
- Calculation of the discharge time with relative simulation
- Sizing of the required openings as a function of the overpressure volume
- Calculation of the quantity of residual oxygen after the discharge
How it works
The Nargotech® system works on the principle of total saturation: it intervenes by lowering the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere, guaranteeing prompt extinguishing of the fire, with total respect for the environment.
The combustion of over 90% of combustible products is inhibited when the oxygen concentration in the air falls below 15%. Therefore, the injection of Nargotech® into the premises where the fire is developing ensures that it is extinguished promptly. The retention time and leakage in the room are verified by means of the Door Fan Integrity Test.
The system can be activated in the following ways:
-
Automatic activation via the detection system in the protected area: When a fire occurs, the fire detection centre activates the solenoid valve on the pilot cylinder, thereby activating the entire cylinder battery via the pneumatic line.
-
Electrical/manual activation: Operation is exactly the same as the automatic system with the only difference being that activation takes place via a control button located outside the protected area.
-
Manual emergency activation: In the event of a power failure, a tear-off activation system, using a manual lever, will activate the system.

Parts
- Battery of pressurized cylinders at 200 or 300 bar
- Quick exhaust valve
- Opening control, pressure gauge and pressure switch
- Delivery manifold from which the distribution network of the extinguishing product starts
- Dispensing nozzles
- Pilot cylinder
- Electric-manual actuator
- There are various system configurations that can include one or more cylinders to protect a single room or several rooms even if they are of different sizes. If the system protects several rooms, the manifold is equipped with electro-pneumatic switching valves.
- In any case, the manifold is equipped with an overpressure valve in the event of system malfunction.
