Tema Sistemi SpA, a global player in the production of certified firefighting systems for the military naval sector, crowned a new success with the delivery of pumping units, control panels and cylinders of the innovative Aquatech® high-pressure water mist firefighting system on board the SDO-SURS ship. The Italian Navy’s newest submarine rescue ship, is set to ply the seas with a state-of-the-art safety system.
The testing of the system, which took place at Tema Sistemi’s production facility, saw the active participation of the Mariotti Shipyard, shipowner representatives of the Italian Navy and the naval classification body RINA. A demonstration of excellence and reliability that underscores Tema Sistemi’s expertise and dedication to maritime safety.
The SDO-SURS, with its impressive 100 meters long, 18 meters wide and a displacement of 4,000 tons, is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system, reaching a maximum speed of 18 knots. An impressive and technologically advanced facility intended for submarine rescue operations, supported by a vast arsenal of instrumentation, including a high-resolution underwater search system and a sophisticated medical center.
The Aquatech® water mist fire suppression system, the heart of safety and security aboard the SDO-SURS, is designed to comprehensively protect every space on the ship.
