In the Oil&Gas sector, one of the elements most exposed to the risk of fire is represented by hydrocarbon storage tanks, substances which, as is well known, are highly flammable.
Assessing the best possible solution for the protection of these areas is a challenge that Tema Sistemi has successfully faced for several refineries in Russia.
Big giants such as Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil have choosen Tema Sistemi to secure their plants in the cities of Moscow, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, Orenburg and Novokujbyševsk.
In particular, the company has developed a solution that involves the use of:
– a water cooling system, as required by the regulations in force;
– a film-forming foam agent, particularly effective against fires resulting from the spreading of flammable liquids.
The water acts on the external surfaces of the tanks (in order to avoid the collapse of the structures); at the same time, the foam system is activated inside the trenches and the containment basins.
The foam attacks the fire acting as an obstacle to expansion, and then, suffocates and drastically reduces the flames.
Moreover, unlike other systems, the foam prevents the occurrence of reignition phenomena thanks to the suffocation action on the vapors.
For the petrochemical sector in particular, Tema sistemi has developed a proportioner for the storage and mixing of foaming liquids. The product is able to maintain high performance in highly corrosive internal atmospheres and to guarantee the efficiency and functionality of the equipment in critical environmental conditions.
